Wash had been sort of half-awake in the kitchen, just sitting at the table and nursing a hot coffee when he heard the familiar grumble of the lawn mower starting up. Which had to mean that York was here. York, the young kid he'd hired a few weeks ago to tend to his yard (because he could never really be bothered). That honestly helped to wake him up more than the coffee did. York was... He was so perfectly fit for his age, really nice, chiselled facial features, and goddamn, those abs.

All of these things, of course, Wash shouldn't be thinking about the guy. There was nearly a ten year age difference between them, and York was like, barely legal. He'd never act on any of the thoughts, never! ...But he did allow himself to fantasize from time to time, even if he always ended with reminding himself how sick he was for it. Though, he always supposed, it could be worse. At least York was an adult, technically. But he was also gorgeous and had that really straight look about him. He probably had a girlfriend. Or several. Even if Wash was stupid enough to act on his thoughts, there was no way York would even want anything to do with him that way. Weird, secluded author guy who peeks out at him through the windows and was significantly older? Yeah, no. There was no fucking way.

But, he could always keep fantasizing.

By the time Wash finished his coffee and simple breakfast, and everything was cleaned up inside, he chanced another look out the window. ...Just in time to see York's shirt coming off. He'd be lying if he said he didn't stare long and hard at that. But as York returned to mowing, Wash shook himself out of it and mentally threatened himself with a cold shower if he didn't knock it off, before turning to his freezer.

A lot of the days that York worked, Wash would pay him with a little more than money. He felt bad, having the kid out there working all day in the sun, so a lot of the time he'd make a snack, or a drink for him. Let him take a break and refresh himself a little. Today, he decided that a smoothie sounded good. A mix of drink and snack. So he set to work blending fruit and yogurt and ice in his blender, hoping York didn't have any allergies to anything all the while.

Once they were done, he poured the drinks out into two glasses and glance back at the door. He...admittedly always felt a little awkward when he invited York inside, always worried that the boy would take it as more than it was. But really, this was just friendly snacktime between employee and employer! He never meant anything more by it, no matter what it was he spent too much of his time thinking about.

Finally shaking himself out of the awkwardness, because really, they'd done this several times by now. It was nothing. Wash moved to the door and stepped outside onto the deck, giving a little wave from the shade to get York's attention away from the lawnmower.
"If you're ready for a break, I made some smoothies. If it interests you." With a little shrug, Wash gestured to the door to let York know he was inviting him inside, where it was a lot cooler, if he wanted to take part in the beverage.
